Austin's first introduction to the world of film was at the age of five in Tokyo, Japan. He was cast in a reoccurring role for a NHK (Japan's biggest TV network) drama series. In his teens, he began making his own short film and became very obvious that he belonged not in front of the camera, but behind it.

Austin made his directorial debut in 2016 with a feature film entitled, "Secondhand Hearts'. He continues to write and direct projects that focus on the experience and emotional aspect of storytelling.
